The Boldie bag is full of rich history and is deeply steeped in both French and American culture. In 1916, Emile-Maurice Hermès traveled to North America and visited Henry Ford's automobile factory. While visiting, he was introduced to the zipper and filed a patent for the zipper to be utilized on leather goods. Initially named, "le sac pour l'auto," the bag was eventually renamed Bolide, a 16th-century word for "comet" which paid homage to the booming car industry which was taking hold at the time of production. In 2015, the Bolide Secret was introduced with organization and security in mind. The exterior zip compartment can be locked safely and securely and is perfect for high-end goods. This chic iteration of the Bolide is crafted in Blue Saint-Cyr Swift leather with Palladium-plated hardware. Swift leather has a fine grain that becomes softer over time and is known for having a semi-matte finish to it.
