Incredibly rare and ultra-collectible, the Hermès Kelly Pochette includes all the distinctive features of the iconic silhouette, conveniently compressed into a hand-held clutch. This pre-owned accessory is crafted in Black Gulliver leather and accented with Palladium-plated hardware. Gulliver leather was discontinued in 1999 (and subsequently re-introduced in 2005 as Swift leather) and is known for its fine grain that is soft to the touch and reflects light, giving it a shimmer-like quality.
About the Kelly: First designed in 1932, the Kelly was introduced as a travel bag that was referred to as the sac à dépêches. It was then renamed to the Kelly after actress Grace Kelly was photographed numerous times with the bag (most notably, while she was pregnant and using it to cover her baby bump). The impeccable craftsmanship, classic silhouette, scarcity, and unique history make the Kelly a must-have for any handbag collector. The two styles of Kelly are the Sellier (or Rigide) and Retourne (or Souple). The Sellier has a more structured, rigid shape with distinct corners and visible exterior stitching, while the Retourne has a more relaxed, softer shape that has rounded edges as though the bag were turned inside out. It can take a single Hermès craftsman up to 18 hours to construct each Kelly.
